Do you translate from Italian to German and/or from Italian to English?
No. Most professional translators only work from one or two foreign languages into their native language. While a translator may be proficient in a foreign language, this proficiency will never equal their knowledge of their mother tongue. A translation by a non-native speaker might seem well done, but it will always have some flaws that are bound to negatively impact the customer – and even the purchase.
How does the translation process work?
First of all, write to me and tell me what your needs are, in as much detail as possible – the subject of your text, number of words, source language, approximate deadline. Try to give me as much information as you can. I will get back to you and ask you to send me the text, so I can examine it and prepare a free quote. Should you accept my quote, I will translate and deliver the text within the agreed deadline.
How much does a translation cost?
Many things affect the cost of a translation – length, type of text, complexity, urgency, possibly additional services. Not all texts are equal – for instance, if you need transcreation or thorough keyword research, the price is going to be higher, likewise if the turnaround is very short. We will discuss all of this in detail before we get to the quote stage.
Will you review the final text?
If you would like this extra step, I will have a trusted translator review the target text before delivery. In this case, the fee will be slightly higher. We can discuss this before we get to the free quote stage.
I need translations for an ecommerce website. Will you do the keyword research or should I do it myself?
This is entirely up to you, but please bear in mind that keywords can’t be merely translated from one language to the other – you will need to do fresh research. Keywords with a high search volume in one language might be different from the ones Italian customers search for. Therefore, if you don’t want to do the research yourself, I can do it for you after discussing this in the free quote stage.
Can you review or proofread my text in English or German?
No, I can’t. As far as editing services are concerned, I only work with texts that were either originally written in Italian or are translated into Italian. Editing and proofreading require a level of proficiency that only a native speaker can have.
